Chains
Chains, by Laurie Halse Anderson, is a historical fiction book about the revolutionary war. Isabel, the main character, is an African Salve. When Isabel's mistress dies, her and her sister are sold to a cruel vicious woman. Isabel's new mistress is Loyal to the King and when Isabel meets another slave she is asked to spy on her mistress. However, being a spy could threaten the lives of Isabel and her sister and she doesn't know if she wants to take that chance. It is only after a series of unfortunate events that Isabel decides to go with her heart, unafraid of what the consequences will be. I like this story because it shows the revolutionary war from the eyes of a salve. I would rate this a 4.5 stars out of 5 stars.
Auggie And Me
Auggie and me is about the story of wonder told in perspectives of different characters from the book. This book is by Raquel J. Palacio. It is a great book. And I highly recommend it.
The Heroes of Olympus
The Heroes of Olympus series is my favorite series Rick Riordan wrote. This series is full of action and is suspenseful. If you love to read action books I recommend this series. You will love them. This book is about a prophecy, that predicted seven demigods would unite to protect the earth from Gaea, the goddess of the Earth, before she wakes up. Gaea, on the other hand, is planning to destroy it.

Hidden like Anne Frank
Hidden like Anne Frank is a book that take place in Amsterdam during World War 2. It is the story of 14 Jewish children that went into hiding because of Hitler. All of these children had to leave their friends, family and homes. I found this book very interesting and I liked how it showed many children story's. It really gives you a deeper look into World War 2 and takes you into their world. You get to experience their slim get-aways. I would rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars.
Calico Captive
Calico Captive is a great book, one of my favorites. It is about a girl named Miriam who lived in the 1750s. One day, in her settlement, she heard a shrill of Indian calls. It was and Indian raid. They took her and her family on a frightening journey through the woods. She found herself an Indian captive, caught up in the French and Indian war. Now she would have to survive with the little food that was given to her, and all she could look forward to was a life of slavery. Could she get out of this? Could she survive this seemingly endless trail?
As I said earlier love this book it took me on an adventure of ups and downs and I found myself reading this and unable to put it down. I did not think it would be that good, but it was wonderful. It also gives you a little twist of love. I would rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

When You Reach Me
When You Reach Me is written by Rebecca Stead. One day a girl named Miranda starts getting mysterious notes, but she does not know who the notes are from or what they are for. These notes do not make much sense to Miranda and they actually make her a little nervous because of what they say. The notes make it seem as though someone is watching her. Not only does the notes not make much sense, but also some other things that go on in the neighborhood do not make much sense. I really enjoyed this book because it always kept me wondering what was going to happen and it kept me confused (you will understand why when you read the book). I would give this book 5 stars out of 5 stars.
Brown Girl Dreaming
Brown Girl Dreaming is about the author's (Jacqueline Woodson) childhood. This book takes place in the '60s and '70s. Jacqueline is African American and while her family is living in South Carolina she experiences segregation between the blacks and the whites. This book starts with when Jacqueline was just a baby, and it talks about the memories she had while when she was just a toddler. By the end of the book, Jacqueline is twelve or thirteen. I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about books that take place in the 1960s and 1970s.

This is What Happy Looks Like
This is What Happy Looks Like is a realistic fiction book by Jennifer E. Smith. In this book teenage actor Graham Larkin accidentally sends an email to a girl named Ellie O'Neil. The two of them start emailing back and forth most everyday, without even knowing each other's first name. When Graham gets a chance to visit the city where Ellie lives, the two meet and Ellie realizes she had been emailing an actor. Ellie is scared that Graham's popularity could effect her life changing secret that she has been hiding from everyone. Also Graham has an image to protect and falling in love with a girl like Ellie could harm his career. I like this book because it is a love story that has many twists and turns in it. I would give this book 5 stars out of 5 stars.

The Giver
In this book by Lois Lowry, a boy named Jonas lives in a world that is without pain, hunger, sadness, or fear. Everyone is told exactly what to do and when. Spouses, children, homes, jobs, schools, clothing, hairstyles, names, and medication is all decided by the authorities. Everyone loves this, and no one thinks that it could be different. Jonas, of course, agrees. After all, how else could they live? However, through his training for the most important job in his community, he begins to see things a little differently. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. It kept me on the edge, had realistic characters in it, and helped me to remember to be thankful for everything I have.

Wolf Storm
This book is about three kids and one old man; Cecil, Jeremy, ________, and _________. They are all actors in a new science fiction movie, which is filming on a isolated snowy mountain. The props they're using are amazing - tame wolves, monster suits, mechanical ice spiders, and other frighting but fascinating wonders of machine. It sounds like the dream job, being characters in a new movie, with real live wolves and all... but something doesn't feel right... it's like someone other than the brilliant director is watching them... and why are the wolves so edgy?
